Research Interests:

Keratin is a structural protein family commonly found in hair, fingernails and some epithelial cells in animals. There are a myriad of methods for extracting these proteins under oxidative or reductive conditions to form keratoses or kerateines, respectively and processing them into biomaterials in the form of gels, films, fibers, and scaffolds. I am interested in the cellular mitogenic and chemotactic interactions of these smart novel biomaterials in tissues.
