Application process 2014-2015 (class of 2017)

The Wake Forest School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program participates in the Central Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA) and subscribes to the CASPA Admissions Code of Cooperation.

In order to be considered for admission to the Wake Forest School of Medicine (WFSM) Physician Assistant Program, a completed application must be submitted through CASPA and a supplemental application must be submitted to the Wake Forest School of Medicine.  Applications for the Wake Forest School of Medicine Physician Assistant Class of 2017 (entering June 2015) are available through CASPA beginning April 16, 2014.  For questions about completing the CASPA application, contact CaspaInfo@caspaonline.org or call 617-612-2080. 

Application Deadline: October 1, 2014

To qualify for entrance into the Class of 2017, the online application and all supporting documentation must be submitted to CASPA by October 1, 2014. A completed CASPA application includes:

  1. the CASPA application
  2. two of three letters of reference
  3. transcripts from all schools attended 

Early submission of application and supporting documents is highly encouraged.  Applications received earliest will be reviewed first and may receive priority in scheduling interviews.

All materials for application, except the Wake Forest School of Medicine PA supplemental application, should be sent to CASPA. After submitting the online application, applicants should check the CASPA Applicant Portal frequently to verify that references, transcripts, and GRE scores have been received by CASPA. If there is a problem with CASPA's receipt of any supporting documentation, applicants should follow up with the parties involved and apprise the WFSM PA Program of any possible delay in meeting a deadline.

Supplemental Application

Upon receipt and processing of the CASPA application by the Wake Forest School of Medicine PA Program, applicants will receive email notification directing them to a secure website for completion of the WFSM PA supplemental application, which will require a $100 supplemental application fee.  Please note that the supplemental application will not be available until the WFSM PA Program has received and processed the applicant's CASPA application. Applications will not be reviewed until all of the following documents have been received by the Wake Forest School of Medicine PA Program:

  1. CASPA application
  2. GRE scores from CASPA
  3. WFSM PA supplemental application  

The CASPA application, GRE scores and WFSM PA supplemental application must be received by November 15, 2014 in order for an applicant to be considered for admission to the Wake Forest School of Medicine PA Program. 

Graduate Record Exam (GRE) Scores

In addition to the CASPA application, supporting documentation, and the WFSM PA supplemental application, applicants must submit scores for the GRE general test through CASPA using the Wake Forest School of Medicine Department of PA Studies Institution Code 5923. The GRE should be taken within five years of the application deadline.  Applicants who have successfully completed a Masters or a PhD degree in the past ten years and are unable to obtain GRE scores from ETS will be permitted to submit GRE scores that are obtained from the admission records of the institution granting their graduate level degree.

Interviews

Program review of applications will be conducted June 2014 through November 2014. Applications received earliest will be reviewed first and may receive priority in scheduling interviews. On-campus interviews, offered to the most qualified applicants, may be scheduled beginning September 2014 through early January 2015.  During the interview day candidates will have the opportunity to meet faculty, staff and current first-year PA students and participate in a demonstration of our inquiry-based learning program. In addition, a financial aid presentation will be provided.  Applicants not interviewed will not be eligible for admission to the Wake Forest School of Medicine Physician Assistant program. 

Acceptance

Notification of acceptance will occur as soon as possible following the interview.  Applicants accepted for admission will be expected to make a $500 deposit to hold their seat in the class within two weeks of acceptance.  This money is applied to tuition and is non-refundable.

All requirements for the Wake Forest School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program must be completed and verified prior to matriculation.  Official copies of all final transcripts must be received by the Wake Forest School of Medicine Department of Physician Assistant Studies prior to matriculation. 

The first day for the Class of 2017 is June 1, 2015.
