Research Focus

Dr. Seyler joined the Physician Scientist Program with a strong background in immunology and cell biology. His interests are decellularized tissues that have been successfully used in a variety of tissue engineering applications. His PhD work is based on the hypothesis that a novel, decellularized, biocompatible, human, Achilles tendon allograft tissue-derived scaffold demonstrates equivalent biomechanical properties, and an improved rate of osteointegration and graft remodeling when compared to current existing graft choices including fresh frozen human Achilles tendon allograft and freeze-dried Achilles tendon allograft. Clinically, Dr. Seyler has worked on several projects in the area of adult reconstruction. In addition, Dr. Seyler was very successful obtaining extramural funding and presented his work at numerous national and internal meetings.
