Residency in Anatomic Pathology
The Department of Pathology/Section on Comparative Medicine of Wake Forest School of Medicine invites applications for a Residency in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology, available July 1, 2014.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual interested in residency training in a high-quality training program designed to provide board eligibility for the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. Our structured program is guided by ACVP Diplomate faculty and has a strong record of success in board preparation. The residency provides experience across a wide species range, with an emphasis on nonhuman primates and other laboratory animal species. The duration of residency is 1 to 3 years, with the potential for subsequent entry into a 3-year NIH-sponsored post-doctoral fellowship leading to an advanced degree (PhD or MS). Research opportunities include internationally recognized programs in women's health, radiation oncology, again, cardiovascular disease, cancer, regenerative medicine, diabetes, reproductive system disorders, and substance abuse. Unique institutional resources include the Wake Forest University Primate Center, the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest University, the WF Institute for Regenerative Medicine, the Center for Human Genomics, the Center for Biomolecular Imaging, and the Sticht Center for Aging Research. The Medical Center is the major employer in Winston-Salem, an affordable community of 240,000 in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. WFSM provides health insurance and other fringe benefits.
