The Infant Follow Up Program consists of two clinics. Both clinics serve high risk infants discharged from the neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) at Brenner Children Hospital and Forsyth Medical Center.
The Developmental Follow Up Clinic meets each Tuesday and provide developmental assessments, such as the Bayley Scales of Infant Development. The Special Infant Care Clinic meets Wednesday and Thursday and provides medical care and developmental screening.
Infants served by the clinics include those with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (chronic lung disease), feeding difficulties, and extreme prematurity. Infants are typically followed until they reach 18 months adjusted age (age adjusted for degree of prematurity).
