Application Procedures

Application Deadline for New Students:  March 15

Applicants with extenuating circumstances who are unable to meet the Financial Aid Application Deadline must request consideration for an extension in writing by emailing the Office of Student Financial Planning.

Only written requests will be considered.  Notification of the Office of Student Financial Planning decision will be sent via email within two business days.

Step 1: Federal Student Loans

To qualify for student loans for the 2014-2015 academic year, complete the 2014-2015 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.fafsa.ed.gov after January 1, 2014.

The WFSM School Code is E00524.

Students should submit the FAFSA no later than March 15 to insure the results reach the Office of Student Financial Planning in adequate time.

Parental financial information is not required on the FAFSA for graduate and professional students.

After your FAFSA is processed, you will receive a summary of your information in your Student Aid Report (SAR).  If you provide an email address, your SAR will be sent via email within 3-5 days.  If you do not supply an email address, your SAR will be mailed to you about 4 weeks after you submit the FAFSA.

The SAR indicates your expected family contribution, which is used to determine your eligibility for federal student loans. The SAR also lists the information you reported on the FAFSA, so that you can check your information for accuracy.

If no corrections are needed, keep the SAR for your records. If you listed the WFSM school code in the college release section of your SAR, we will receive your information electronically.

Step 2: Scholarships

To be considered for Nurse Anesthesia Program Supplemental Scholarships, you must also complete the supplemental scholarship application form in addition to the FAFSA.

All accepted students will be provided a scholarship application form to be completed and returned to the Nurse Anesthesia Program Office.

What to expect after applying:

It is your responsibility to insure that all information is received and on time.  Please feel free to contact us at any time to check on the status of your file.

You may email us at finaid@wakehealth.edu.

Receive your award notification.  Students will receive their emails in mid-April.

Review your awards online and accept or reject awards offered accordingly.  Note: The total amount you accept will be divided into two equal installments.

Submit your awards online within 14 days of receipt.  The Office of Student Financial Planning will certify your eligibility for the loans you have accepted and send the certification to the Department of Education.

Read, complete and electronically sign your Master Promissory Notes (MPN's).  An MPN must be completed for the unsubsidized Stafford loan.  If you also accepted the Graduate PLUS loan, you must complete a separate MPN.  The MPN link is provided once you submit your financial aid.  If you did not complete the MPN when you clicked submit, go to www.studentloans.gov.

Your awards are first applied towards tuition.  If there is a remaining balance, students should expect to pay the balance.

Student aid that exceeds the charges due will be refunded to the student for living expenses.
