Structural heart disease refers to a number of conditions affecting the structure of your heart, including its valves, walls, chambers, tissues and major arteries.

Structural heart diseases can be present at birth (congenital) or acquired over time. Some people who are born with a structural heart condition may not even know they have it and may not require treatment until they reach adulthood and symptoms appear.
