The Wound Healing Center of Wilkes provides specialized treatment for acute, subacute and chronic non-healing wounds, which are defined as sores or wounds that have not significantly improved from normal healing processes, conventional treatment or complicating risk factors. It is estimated over 8 million Americans suffer from chronic wounds annually.
Wounds can become non-healing due to many different reasons such as:
- Inadequate circulation
- Poorly functioning veins
- Skin tears
- Surgical interventions
Non-healing wounds can lead to infections, poor quality of life, reduced socialization and even loss of limbs. When wounds do not respond to normal healing, you may need to seek treatment at one of our wound locations. The Wound Center offers specialty providers who had been certified and trained in nationally recognized clinical practice guidelines and advanced modality techniques for getting difficult wounds to heal.
