Physical Therapy to Relieve Back Pain
Most back pain patients at the Spine Center are treated with physical
therapy or spinal injections before surgery is
considered. We have a comprehensive Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
(PM&R) program that specializes in providing physician-driven therapeutic treatments
for patients suffering with recurrent or new, onset back pain.
Our team of board certified PM&R specialists
(physiatrists), licensed spine therapists and primary spine
physicians are dedicated to creating a care plan that best meets each patient’s
specific lifestyle and recovery goals. All patients are carefully evaluated by
one of our expert physicians to determine the best spine treatment, which may
involve a combination of therapies.
Spinal Physical Therapy Services
While simple changes like wearing orthotic shoes, sitting in
a specific chair or stretching can relieve some back and neck discomfort,
physical therapy may be needed if your pain persists for longer than three
days. We offer several different physical therapy and rehabilitation techniques
focused on relieving aching, pain, weakness and stiffness, including:
exercises to improve flexibility, core strength and body mechanics (how you
sit, stand and move)
packs and ultrasound (delivers heat to deep tissues)
therapy including manipulation or massage

While reducing your immediate pain is important, we want the

methods to help restore movement and function and improve overall fitness so
