Heart Smart Natural Food Day to be Held Sept. 7

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Heart Smart Natural Food Day, an event featuring free heart-healthy food samples and blood pressure screenings, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 7 at Doug Brendle’s Natural Health Superstore, at Stratford Commons Court.

The event is sponsored by Doug Brendle’s, Adelia’s Natural Gourmet and the Heart Center at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Food samples will be provided by Adelia’s Natural Gourmet, the newest participant in the Heart Center’s Dining Program. Donna Ziobro, R.D., Heart Center dietitian, will be on hand to answer questions.

The Dining Program’s participating restaurants offer menu items that are lower in sodium and fat. In addition to Adelia’s Natural Gourmet, they are the Bayberry Restaurant, California Fresh Buffet, Green Valley Grill, K&W Cafeterias, Lowes Foods at Robinhood Road, Lucky 32, Midtown Café and Dessertery, Sampan Chinese Restaurant, the Vineyards Restaurant and Whole Foods Market.
