Tooze Receives 2008 NIH Merit Award

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Janet A. Tooze, Ph.D., assistant professor of biostatistical sciences at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, will be one of 10 individuals to receive the 2008 National Institute of Health Merit Award as a member of the Surveillance Measurement Error Group. This award recognizes researchers who have demonstrated superior competence and outstanding productivity in research endeavors.

The group is being acknowledged for its advancements in the field of dietary assessment research by conceptualizing and implementing a model to estimate usual dietary intakes.

Tooze, who is a member of the Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Sticht Center on Aging and the Translational Science Institute, graduated from Earlham College with a bachelor of arts in chemistry. She received her doctorate degree in biometrics from the University of Colorado and a master of public health at the Harvard School of Public Health.

The award will be presented at the National Cancer Institute Director’s Award Ceremony on Wednesday Oct. 29, 2008, in Bethesda, MD.
