Free Talk on Incontinence, Erectile Dysfunction Scheduled

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Gopal Badlani, M.D., a professor of urology at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, will present a free talk on the latest treatments for erectile dysfunction and urinary stress incontinence in men on Thursday, Sept. 17 at the Hawthorne Inn and Conference Center, 420 High Street.

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and the talk starts at 6 p.m. To register, call 877-433-2873.

Stress incontinence is when urine leaks during a physical activity, such as swinging a golf club or lifting heavy objects. It can also occur during laughing or coughing. It affects more than five million men in the United States and is very common in men who have had treatment for prostate cancer.

Erectile dysfunction affects an estimated 30 million men in the U.S. and is common in men with diabetes, heart disease or after surgery for prostate cancer.

Badlani, who is co-director of the Department of Urology’s Continence Center, will discuss treatment options including medications, minimally invasive procedures, urinary control devices and penile implants.

“It is important for men suffering from chronic erectile dysfunction or incontinence to know that in most cases the conditions are treatable,” said Badlani. “There are solutions that can restore quality of life.”
