About Me

I am a board certified Adult-Gerontology nurse practitioner and Advanced Hospice and Palliative Nurse. I grew up in a small town about twenty minutes south of Winston-Salem, NC and even worked as a Volunteen here at Wake Forest Baptist Health during the summers of my high school years. After graduating from nursing school in 2003, I worked at several large academic medical centers caring for oncology and bone marrow transplant patients. In 2007, I made my way back “home” to Wake Forest Baptist and began working as an inpatient nurse for oncology services. I joined the palliative care team in 2013 after completing nurse practitioner training. My role on our palliative care team has a clinical focus. I spend most of my time performing inpatient palliative consultations for adult patients living with serious illness. Additionally, I lead a palliative heart failure clinic two days per month concentrating on advanced heart failure patients to improve quality of life while they are still well and assisting with completing LVAD and heart transplant evaluations. Finally, I have the distinct privilege of teaching advanced practice provider students and other health care professionals as a clinical preceptor. My approach to care centers on treating the patient as a whole person: encompassing mind, body and spirit.
