When I was a medical student looking for an internal medicine residency program, I looked for an academic institution with a focus on education, wide diversity of patients and diagnoses, and ample opportunity for subspecialty fellowship training. Wake Forest met all of these needs and added a friendly atmosphere where attendings and colleagues work together to care for patients and make sure all the work gets done at the end of the day.  (read more)

Sometimes you just know where you belong. When looking for a residency program, there were several factors that I had to consider. My wife, who was pursuing a pediatric residency program at the time, and I wanted to find an institution with a strong internal medicine and pediatric program that was located in the south east. For me, in particular, I was looking for a program that would provide great primary care training, but also would give me exposure to various subspecialties to ensure I was making the best career decision.  (read more)
