Residency Application Process

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency program is a four year training program.  There are twenty-four (24) RRC approved residency positions.

Applications are only accepted  through the Web-Based Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).  Please note that any questions regarding ERAS should be directed to your Dean's Office/Office of Student Activities or the ERAS web site.

The ERAS common application form 

Three letters of recommendation

Official medical school transcript

Personal statement

Current CV

COMLEX or USMLE Step 1 & 2 (CS and CK) scores 
*Note that passing scores for BOTH step 1 and step 2 (CK and CS) are required in order to start residency; however, only step 1 scores are required for the application process.  However, having both scores available for the application process can be very helpful.

Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)

We do not require previous clinical experience or United States experience for foreign medical graduates.

Invitations for interviews will be issued by means of an ERAS e-mail.  A typical interview day generally lasts from 7:30 am-4:00 pm and includes an introduction to the program from the Residency Program Director and Chair, personal interviews with the Residency Director, faculty, and senior residents, lunch and informal time with current residents, and a tour of the medical center, labor and delivery, and resident clinic sites. Current residents host a social event the night before the interview date.  Applicants will be notified of all final details and locations once the interview date has been scheduled. 

Interview dates for the 2018 Match will be posted as soon as they are determined. They will be in the months of November and December, 2018. 

The Piedmont Triad International Airport located in Greensboro, NC is less than 30 minutes away from Winston-Salem.  Charlotte Douglas Airport is 1 ½ hours from Winston-Salem and Raleigh-Durham is 2 hours away.
