Brenner Children’s Hospital is the region’s only full-service pediatric hospital, providing expert care for infants through teens in state-of-the-art, child-friendly facilities.

The Brenner Children’s staff has more than 150 pediatricians and surgeons specializing in more than 30 areas of pediatric medicine and surgery.

Pediatric Services and Expertise

Brenner Children’s Level I pediatric emergency department is staffed 24/7 and features child-sized equipment and furnishings.

The hospital’s Level IV neonatal intensive care unit serves as the referral center for the more than 28,000 neonates born in the region each year and provides a comprehensive range of services with state-of-the-art equipment.

Highly specialized and unique treatment in pediatric specialties such as gastroenterology, urology, neurosurgery, cardiac care and orthopedic surgery draw patients from across the Southeast.

Services also include Brenner FIT, the region’s first comprehensive pediatric obesity program, which helps families overcome obesity and offers innovative partnerships that provide health education and increase awareness.

In addition, Amos Cottage houses the programs and services that comprise the Pediatric Developmental & Behavioral Section. Developmental Pediatric Clinics, Children’s Developmental Services Agency, and Therapeutic Day Program offer medical sub-specialty and allied health care, early developmental intervention services and behavioral health care for children from across northwestern North Carolina.

The Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma is dedicated to significantly improving survival rates of children nationwide who suffer serious injuries and reducing the lifelong impact of traumatic injuries in children.
