At Wake Forest Baptist Health, some of our otolaryngologists have further specialization and training in otology and lateral skull base surgery – the diagnosis and surgical management of diseases of the ear and its related structures.
Our board-certified otologists treat a wide range of conditions, including hearing loss, cholesteatoma (skin cyst in the middle ear or skull base), congenital ear malformations, vertigo that is caused by inner ear disorders, and acoustic neuroma and other skull base tumors.
Skull base surgery is often a collaborative effort between our physicians and specialists in neurosurgery, neuroradiology and radiation oncology.
We also have extensive experience with cochlear implant surgery in both children and adults.
