Why Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist?

Our residency program offers a wide range of robust learning experiences, with the flexibility to customize schedules to fit the resident’s goals. Outside of clinical rotations, longitudinal opportunities across the health system provide the resident with experience in quality improvement, research, and pharmacy leadership.

As a large academic medical center, a strong emphasis is placed on education. Our program is structured to facilitate growth in precepting and presentation skills. Our health system partners with three local schools of pharmacy, creating a robust layered learning model. The resident will have one dedicated rotation to focus on preceptor development, with the opportunity for additional precepting throughout the year, pending interest and learner availability. In addition to precepting, the resident will also provide formal lectures and in-services to learners and providers in various healthcare disciplines.

The practice experience component of the program consists of emergency department coverage, which allows the resident to develop emergency medical response abilities, and medical-surgical and intensive care unit evening coverage, which provides experience triaging multiple tasks and patient care needs.
