Significant weight loss can sometimes be accompanied by extra skin. A thigh lift helps to contour the upper thigh by removing excess skin.

By itself, a thigh lift doesn’t address excess fat deposits. However, for patients with good skin elasticity, liposuction to remove fat can be used in conjunction with a thigh light.

Wake Forest Baptist Health surgeons specialize in performing this procedure, which provides patients with not only improved thigh shape and proportion, but also improved hygiene and mobility.

What to Expect from a Thigh Lift

In a thigh lift, the surgeon makes an incision near the top of the thigh crease, extends it along the inner thigh to the knee, and then removes the skin. This outpatient surgery generally takes two to three hours.

Compression garments may be recommended for several weeks. Patients can return to exercise four to six weeks after the procedure.
