- January 24, 2023 I would have liked for him to examine me better. He didn’t seem at all comfortable looking at my torso which had broken out in hives. It may not be a common symptom of IBS but it could be related to the GI system because of a food allergy. He didn’t ask me what I had eaten that day. Instead, he just referred me back to my PCP (who is online and can’t really examine hives in person). Or he told me to go to the ER or urgent care. In this case, I would have preferred to have met with an MD who would be more comfortable or experienced examining a rash or hives. On a more positive note, he did explain how to take my prescribed medication in a way to make it more effective (one hour before other meds and before a meal). I’ve been on this medicine for 5 years and no one had ever told me when or how to take it, so I appreciated the information.

He agreed to my suggestion of reducing the amount of my medication, told me that he was available any time if a need arises, and asked me to return in one year for a check up. I was in and out of the office in less than 30 minutes from check in to check out!
