BOTOX® Cosmetic is one of the easiest and most reliable ways to rejuvenate your face. It minimizes frown lines and crow’s feet (side of the eyes) and can even give a temporary lift to your eyebrows, helping to open up your eyes and give them a refreshed look.

BOTOX is the only FDA-approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows and crow's feet lines in adults.

How BOTOX Works

BOTOX is a prescription medication that targets one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow's feet – repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting of the eyes.

BOTOX is injected into the muscle to temporarily reduce the muscle activity so you will begin to notice a visible smoothing of the lines between the eyebrows and the crow's feet.

BOTOX: What to Expect

Before the Procedure

Be sure to tell your physician about all of your medical conditions and all medications (including prescription and over-the-counter medicines), vitamins, and especially if you:

  • Have a disease that affects your muscles and nerves
  • Have weakness of your forehead muscles, such as trouble raising your eyebrows
  • Have allergies to any botulinum toxin product
  • Have breathing problems such as asthma or emphysema
  • Have swallowing problems
  • Had surgery on your face
  • Have had a recent infection at the injection sites
  • Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
  • Currently breast feeding or plan to breastfeed

During the Procedure

Your treatment will take between 20 and 30 minutes. Your provider will likely use ice just before the injection to further anesthetize the area and minimize bruising.

After the Procedure

BOTOX begins working after 3 to 4 days, and lasts 3 to 4 months.

BOTOX results may vary. In clinical studies, physicians assessed 48 percent of people had significant improvement at month 3; and 25 percent of people had significant improvement at month 4.

The most common side effects with BOTOX are discomfort or pain at the injections sites. You may experience bruising after the injections.

Allergic reactions include: itching, rash, red itchy welts, wheezing, asthma symptoms, or dizziness or feeling faint. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you are wheezing or have asthma symptoms, or become dizzy or faint.
