Using Ultrasound to Detect Prostate Cancer

Initial experiments that began in 1968 using ultrasound to detect prostate cancer came to fruition in 1972, as physicians and researchers around the U.S. began to use the technique.

The leader of the team at N.C. Baptist Hospital was William Boyce, MD, who conducted his research with colleagues William King, MD, Mark Wilkiemeyer, MD, and William McKinney, MD.

Their refinements on diagnostic techniques continued for years.
