Community Financial Support

This chart shows how Wake Forest Baptist Health directed resources to the benefit of the community in the 2018 fiscal year. The total of $450.6 million represents a 21 percent increase, year over year. This support includes:

  • Charity care
  • Community health and programming
  • Education and training in the medical and health professions
  • Research efforts
  • Subsidized health services—primarily the Downtown Health Plaza in Winston-Salem
  • Unreimbursed costs of government-funded programs—primarily Medicare and Medicaid
