This chart shows how Wake Forest Baptist Health directed resources to the benefit of the community in the 2019 fiscal year. The total of $580.8 million represents a 28 percent increase, year over year. This support includes:
- Charity care
- Community health improvement and outreach programs
- Education and training of medical and health professions and clinical research
- Subsidized health services at our Downtown Health Plaza, Bethesda and Southside health clinics in Winston-Salem
- Unreimbursed costs of government-funded programs, primarily Medicare and Medicaid
