This chart shows how Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist directed resources to the benefit of the community in the 2021 fiscal year totaling $611.2 million. This includes community benefits provided throughout the Wake Forest Baptist system and is $15 million more than last year, which was a record high. This support includes:
- Charity care
- Community health improvement and outreach programs
- Education and training of medical and health professions and clinical research
- Subsidized health services at our Downtown Health Plaza, Bethesda and Southside health clinics in Winston-Salem
- Unreimbursed costs of government-funded programs, primarily Medicare and Medicaid
