Women have unique health care needs and concerns. That's why High Point Medical Center created the Esther R. Culp Women's Center - a special place full of health care and educational activities for women of all ages.
The Esther R. Culp Women's Center has a convenient, inviting environment designed by our experienced and service-oriented staff, includes private waiting rooms, spacious classrooms for classes and meetings, and direct access to the childbirth suite and newborn nursery. Our center's all-female staff includes a certified lactation consultant, certified mammography technicians, nurse educators and instructors. Experience and quality are the hallmarks of our care.
As a woman, you know your physical and emotional health needs change every few years. That's why we've packaged our services to complement your specific phase of life. And we plan to be there with you to meet your changing needs.
Whether you are an expectant or new mother, we offer a series of classes that will help enrich your experience as being a new parent. These classes are offered regularly at the locations listed below.

Mommy and Me Classes are free for moms and their babies, ages 0-8 months old. The classes are presented by nurses, lactation consultants and guest speakers. These relaxed and informal sessions provide opportunities for learning and support. Our goal is to strengthen the parent-infant bond and promote development of strong parenting skills. And, it's a great way to meet other moms and their babies that are experiencing some of the same challenges and rewards as you.
Sessions include plenty of time for your questions and individual concerns.

Breastfeeding is a personal choice and is a learned skill that takes time and practice. Let us help you in reaching your personal goal. We are here to help start a healthy beginning not only for you but for your newborn. Your breast milk has an ideal balance of nutrients that you specially designed for your baby. Breast milk provides infants with immune factors made to fight allergens and illnesses specific to mom and baby’s environment.
Lactation support is available 7 days a week.

Our nurses and lactation consultants work as a team to help you and your newborn to become familiar with breastfeeding. Should breastfeeding challenges arise, we offer outpatient services available 7 days a week by appointment. Let us help you reach your breastfeeding goal.

Nearly 4 out of 5 moms in the United States breastfeed their babies today. That is the highest number in 20 years. Breastfeeding offers valuable health benefits for your baby and you. It also offers a joyful start to a bond that will last a lifetime.

- Decreases risk of certain cancers, heart disease and osteoporosis
- More likely to return to pre-pregnancy weight

Hope-Filled Hearts is a support group that aims to offer hope and support to women who are having a hard time with adjustments related to pregnancy and the postpartum period. Meetings will include opportunities for open discussion as well as education on topics related to motherhood. The group is facilitated by licensed professional counselor, Enjonae Anderson of Mended Hearts Counseling.
Join us for an opportunity to meet other moms, share your experiences and support each other while navigating the path of motherhood.
Our group meets the first Wednesday of each month at noon (feel free to bring your lunch) and the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm.
Group participants may bring infants one year old and younger.
