The Geriatric Outpatient Clinic, an outpatient clinic of North Carolina Baptist Hospital, is staffed by geriatricians and medical professionals of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Patients and their families can have peace of mind knowing that the best possible care available is being provided.

This Clinic provides the following services:

  • Primary care for older adults in poor health and at high risk for hospitalization.
  • Consultative geriatric assessment for elderly patients with multiple medical or cognitive (memory) problems. The goals of the consultative assessment are to serve the patient and his/her family; and to assist healthcare providers in their management of older patients with complex health conditions.
  • Coordination of outpatient follow-up procedures for patients discharged from the hospital inpatient services.
  • Other services provided through the Outpatient Clinic include diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis (by appointment for bone density scans and for administration of medication by intravenous infusion.

Appointments may be scheduled by patients themselves, family members or referring physicians. Patients requiring an assessment of cognitive function, must be referred by a physician.
