About Me

Born, raised, and educated in this state, I am a North Carolinian through and through! Currently, I am an Associate Professor at Wake Forest School of Medicine Department of Dermatology. I attended North Carolina State University where I graduated as Valedictorian with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. I earned my medical degree and master of public health degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I completed my internship in internal medicine at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University where I was named both Intern of the Year and Resident Teacher of the Year. I completed my residency in dermatology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, and served as Chief Resident in my final year. 

I have served on the ACGME Residency Review Committee (resident member), the American Board of Dermatology Pediatric Fellowship Review Committee (resident member), the Dermatology Foundation Leaders Society Campaign (NC, Chair), the Medical Dermatology Society Committee on Education and Programs, the AAD Young Physicians Committee, the North Carolina Dermatology Association Executive Committee, and the Dermatology Foundation Leaders Society Committee, Nominating Committee, and Board of Trustees. I served as President of the North Carolina Dermatology Association in 2020. I previously served as the Residency Program Director from 2014-2020 in the Department of Dermatology at Wake Forest School of Medicine. I have received several teaching awards and have lectured regionally, nationally, and internationally on a broad range of topics pertaining to medical dermatology. I have authored more than 60 peer-reviewed articles and several book chapters, and co-authored two books. As a faculty member, I was selected for induction into Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), have received the American Academy of Dermatology Cochrane Award, Members Making a Difference Award, and International Society Travel Grant, and have received a Dermatology Foundation Research Grant. 

My clinical interests and research focuses on complex medical dermatology including autoimmune and autoinflammatory skin conditions.
