The Freischlag Tower features an enhanced patient experience, cutting-edge technologies and innovative treatments. Here, we provide care for even the most complex health needs, with an adult emergency department and operating rooms on-site, as well as an intensive care unit for heart and trauma patients.
In addition to its expanded space and exceptional services, the Freischlag Tower is named for Julie Ann Freischlag, MD. Retiring at the end of 2025, Dr. Freischlag has led Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist as CEO since 2017 and served as an academic medicine leader for more than 32 years. The state-of-the-art facility will carry on her legacy of philanthropy, commitment and dedication to being the leading health system in the region – and for you.

- 45-bed adult emergency department, with 4 trauma rooms and private bays
- 62 private pre-operative and post-operative acute care bays (Opening in August 2025)
- 28 state-of-the-art operating rooms, with 2 endovascular hybrid suites (Opening August 2025)
- Private, spacious intensive care unit (ICU), which includes:
- 16 trauma ICU rooms
- 28 cardiovascular ICU rooms
