“I love what I do because hand surgery lets me combine my passion for complex anatomy with the ability to help people get back to doing what they love. I take time to listen and personalize my approach, knowing that each patient’s background and experiences shape their needs. My greatest reward is seeing patients regain function, confidence and quality of life.”
Dr. Cassandra Driscoll is trained in plastic surgery. She focuses on upper extremities and surgeries of the hands, wrists and forearms, especially peripheral nerve and complex reconstructions.
She chose to practice plastic and reconstructive surgery because it allows her to make a real difference in each person’s quality of life. The process is a true team effort, and she enjoys guiding patients of all ages through this journey.
Dr. Driscoll serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
She is actively involved in research focused on improving outcomes in hand and upper extremity traumas, breast reconstructions and wound healing. Her work includes studies on intraoperative hypothermia, antibiotic regimens and novel wound-healing strategies, with multiple publications and presentations at national meetings such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Plastic Surgery Resource Council.
Dr. Driscoll received a Master of Public Health (MPH) at Boston University and her medical degree at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She completed residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, where she received a resident research award. She then completed an upper extremity and hand fellowship at the Joseph H. Boyes Hand Fellowship at the University of Southern California.
Married with 2 children, Dr. Driscoll loves to spend leisure time with her family. They like skiing, watching soccer, traveling, cooking and simply enjoying time at home. Her favorite ways to unwind are gardening and reading, and she’s a fan of books on behavioral economics.
