Within Atrium Health, we use survey results to better understand what is important to our patients and how we can improve healthcare experiences. The overall Patient Rating score comes from the questions on our Medallia Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a scale, where 0 represents "very poor" and 10 represents "very good.” Those scores are shown as 1 to 5 stars on the provider’s profile.

- August 20, 2022 We travel over 4 hours from another state just to see Dr. Koch. His bedside manner is excellent. You know he cares about you and your health. It is a long trip for us and usually a wait but he takes his time to listen to you and how your medical condition is affecting your life and makes joint decisions to manage acute illnesses.
- August 14, 2022 Doesn??t have a welcoming bedside manner. Doesn??t explain his thought process. Doesn??t announce what he??s doing with physical exams (part of bedside manner).

- March 31, 2022 Very caring doctor and is the only one that I have ever had that really wants to help me with my digestive problem of 30+years
- March 26, 2022 Dr. Koch may be extremely knowlegeable and caring but my experience with him this first appointment was that he basically only talked to his PA Paula and if I tried to interject something into the conversation I was repeatedly told he was only talking to her. I eventually assumed that after he got my report from her, he would then turn and ask me questions, however; it seems he just got up when through with Paula, left the room and then she gave me his suggestions and I never saw him again until the morning of my endoscopy/colonoscopy. I felt like I was invisible and was of no account. At my procedure time, he was totally different and even grinned a bit and chatted with me. A totally caring, friendly, knowlegeable doctor for sure-great turn around. He was awesome that day.
- March 25, 2022 I have had Dr. Koch as my GI physician for well over 10 years now. He is great. He listens to what is going on with me, answers my questions and we are able to discuss options that may help. He can never retire!!!
- March 22, 2022 I have been to numerous hospitals and healthcare providers across the country, and no one knows GI medicine as well or competently as Dr. Koch. His knowledge and care are one of a kind! I would highly recommend him to anyone.
- March 21, 2022 He??s an uncaring doctor who doesn??t seem to care about what his patients actually need. He was condescending and walked out of the room while a question was being asked. Sadly he??s supposed to be the expert on motility issues in the state of NC so it leaves people having to see him if they have a motility issue.
