Biography
“Typically, orthopaedic surgery patients, and joint replacement patients in particular, have excellent outcomes and restoration of function. It is rewarding to help patients get back on their feet and resume activities they previously enjoyed but had to limit due to pain.”
Dr. Maxwell Langfitt is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery. He specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery for degenerative conditions and pain.
As an athlete growing up, he developed an interest in muscles and bones, which led to the desire to help others remain active as well. He takes pride in providing the best, most up-to-date care and feels fortunate to work with a team that shares the goals of focused, patient-centered care.
He is an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery and the executive medical director for peri-operative services at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist-Davie Medical Center.
Dr. Langfitt’s research interests include optimizing and improving patient outcomes for hip and knee replacement surgery, minimally invasive surgery, computer assisted surgery and anterior hip replacement.
He holds memberships in the North Carolina Orthopaedic Association, the American Orthopaedic Association, the Southern Orthopaedic Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
He received his bachelor’s and medical degrees at Wake Forest University. He completed residency in orthopaedic surgery at Wake Forest University and a fellowship in adult reconstruction at New England Baptist Hospital.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and rescue dogs. Dr. Langfitt also stays active with exercise, coaches youth sports and is involved with community activities that support the environment, animals and people in need. He enjoys reading about philosophy and sports, along with personal and family development topics.
