Otolaryngology/head and neck surgery is the oldest medical specialty in the United States. Commonly referred to as ENT (ear, nose and throat), otolaryngology is a surgical specialty dedicated to the diagnosis and management of disorders affecting the ear, nose, throat, head and neck.
Diseases of the head and neck area are common and are frequently managed by primary care physicians. Our dedicated, knowledgeable otolaryngologists are highly trained to diagnose, manage and treat all conditions of the ear, nose, throat, head and neck, from common problems to rare disorders that require specialty medical treatment or surgery.
Our team of otolaryngologists at Wake Forest Baptist has advanced medical training, hands-on expertise and access to the latest technology and research – attributes that make all the difference when treating our patients.
The majority of our otolaryngologists have completed additional training in subspecialty areas such as:
- Head and neck oncology (cancer)
- Otology (ear surgery and disease)
- Voice and swallowing disorders
- Rhinology (nasal and sinus disorders)
- Facial plastic and reconstructive surgery
- Pediatric otolaryngology
Otolaryngologists are certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.
