As an integral part of the Comprehensive Cancer Center, gynecologic oncologists at Wake Forest Baptist Health provide comprehensive care for patients with pre-malignant and malignant diseases of the uterine and ovaries. This includes surgical management, chemotherapy and radiation therapy in conjunction with colleagues in radiation oncology.

Our oncologists provide expert consultation and management of gynecologic malignancies diagnosed regionally including the Comprehensive Cancer Center’s 19-county service area.

Evaluation at outreach clinics is offered in Greensboro, Hickory and Lexington to allow patients improved access to sub-specialty cancer care. Inpatient and outpatient care is coordinated by a nurse navigator, two nurse practitioners and additional dedicated nursing and administrative support staff.

The Story of Cancer at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist

Being treated at our comprehensive cancer center means you not only have access to physicians who are leaders in advancing cancer care, but you also become part of our cancer family.

Our physicians, nurses and staff take pride in treating patients and their families with compassion and kindness, while working to achieve the best possible outcome for each patient.

This comprehensive team-based approach brings together a variety of specialists to care for each patient, regardless of what type of cancer they have. Our gynecologic oncology physicians have highly specialized training and experience in the complexities of diagnosing and treating cancers involving women’s reproductive organs. Our team works together to evaluate your condition and then develop the best treatment plan for you.

Because of this multidisciplinary approach, the Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center has been designated by the National Cancer Institute as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of only 41 in the country.

Compassionate and Patient-Focused Treatment

Most importantly, we treat every patient with warmth and compassion. The full range of surgical options for gynecologic cancers is offered at Wake Forest Baptist, including radical cytoreductive and exenterative procedures as well as minimally invasive surgery whenever feasible. Many patients can be discharged the same day or within 24 hours of surgery.
