The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) sponsors a monthly clinic that provides comprehensive medical services to patients with certain neuromuscular diseases, including muscular dystrophy and other inherited nerve and muscle diseases, like spinal muscular atrophy.

The Pediatric Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinic provides comprehensive care for your child, with treatment tailored to his or her individual needs. Our multidisciplinary team works closely with pediatric specialists in physical and occupational therapy, pulmonary, cardiology, orthopaedics and pediatric complex care.

Patients who participate in the MDA clinic will receive a neurological examination, appropriate testing necessary to achieve diagnosis, physical therapy assessments and follow-up care from our neuromuscular specialists.

Once a patient is affiliated with the MDA, a patient is eligible for direct services that may include the purchase and repair of wheelchairs and braces, recreation at an MDA summer camp and selected transportation needs.

Adult Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinic

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist also has a clinic specializing in treating adults. Many of our providers see both pediatric and adult patients.
