Biography
I chose medicine because I wanted to provide safe, effective and leading-edge care for every child and family. I knew this was the right path when I saw how much trust families place in their care team. Being part of that team is a privilege.
Each day, I’m motivated by seeing patients achieve amazing outcomes. I love helping children get better, supporting families during stressful times and working with a team that is focused on doing what’s best for each patient.
My goal is to make families feel heard, respected and included. When a child is sick, families know their child best. I believe the best care happens when we bring medical knowledge together with a family’s values, questions and hopes.
My care philosophy is simple: I partner with families to make care collaborative, safe and centered on the child and family. During a visit, families can expect me to listen closely, explain things in clear language and work with them to make a care plan that feels right for their child.
I am board-certified in general pediatrics and pediatric hospital medicine. I’m also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
My clinical interests include:

- Care for infants with opioid exposure
- Quality, safety and patient experience
I care for newborns in the Birth Center and children at Brenner Children's Hospital, part of Atrium Health Levine Children’s. I help lead programs that improve safety, communication and care across the system. I also serve as chief medical officer for Brenner Children’s Hospital, where I work with doctors, nurses and other leaders to improve the quality, safety and patient experience of the hospital.
Teaching and mentoring are important aspects of my career. I have had the honor of instructing medical students, residents and fellows, and I’ve received several teaching awards from pediatric trainees. Helping the next generation of pediatricians grow is one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
