Required Learning Experiences – must complete each learning experience

  • Orientation (3 weeks - completed during the last 3 weeks of PGY1)
  • Executive Leadership (2 weeks + 2 weeks)
  • Health-System Pharmacy Integration (4 weeks)
  • Medication Safety and Pharmacy Compliance Management (4 weeks)
  • Multi-hospital Pharmacy Leadership (4 weeks)
  • Retail & Specialty Pharmacy Leadership (4 weeks)
  • Purchasing & Supply Chain Operations (4 weeks)

Required Selective Learning Experience – must complete one in each of the following

  • Clinical Management - 6 weeks
    • Acute Care
    • Ambulatory 
  • Community Hospital Operations - 4 weeks
    • Davie/Lexington Medical Center
    • High Point Medical Center
  • Pharmacy Operations Management - 6 weeks
    • Inpatient
    • Community

Elective Learning Experiences (4 weeks) – select three

  • 340b Program Management
  • Controlled Substances Pharmacy Management
  • Drug Diversion Management
  • Pharmacy Automation and Informatics
  • Pharmacy Population Health Management
  • Specialty Pharmacy Management
  • (may also choose any selective experience not assigned already)

Required Longitudinal Learning Experiences

  • Pharmacy Practice Experience (52 weeks; 16 hours every 3 weekends and 4 hours once weekly)
  • Pharmacy Development with Advisor (52 weeks; minimum of 1 hour monthly)
  • Research Project (50 weeks; including 10 dedicated research days throughout the academic year)
  • Pharmacy Practice Area Management (52 weeks; varies by assignment but up to daily touchpoints with direct reports, customers and other pharmacy leaders)
  • Financial & Budget Management (52 weeks; minimum of one day per month with a greater time commitment around budget season)
