Precepting
Precepting students and PGY1 residents provides the PGY2 resident with the opportunity to refine their teaching skills and further deepen their own clinical knowledge base. Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is a rotation site for pharmacy students from Campbell, Wingate, and High Point Universities. Precepting responsibilities are available on many rotations.
Presentations and Conferences
Written and verbal communication skills are emphasized throughout the program. Some of the presentation experiences include:
- Disease State Topic Discussions
- Drug Class Presentations
- Pharmacy Grand Rounds
- Journal Club
- Case Presentations
- Staff Development Presentations
- Poster Presentation at a National Meeting
Projects
Investigational Drugs and Research residents are mentored by pharmacy preceptors as they complete these requirements:
- Independent research project with a manuscript ready for publication
- Medication use evaluation
Professional Practice Experience
Residents are required to help fulfill the department’s staffing needs in both the Investigational Drug Services Pharmacy and the inpatient pharmacy. Each resident will staff in the IDS Pharmacy one day every four weeks, and will be part of the on call rotation for IDS for the second half of the second year. Each resident will staff in the inpatient pharmacy every 3rd weekend and 3 holidays, as well as one evening clinical shift (4 hours) each week.
