What does Black History Month mean to you?

Black History is American History! Black History Month honors the challenges that so many Black Americans face daily and educates society on the challenges we still face.

Black History Month was created to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans to the United States. Who is a leader that inspires you and why?

I am rooting for everybody Black! There isn’t just one. They’ve all shaped me and created a path for me or my children in some capacity that I am forever grateful for.

At Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, we create a space where ALL Belong. How do you see Wake Forest Baptist fostering an environment where ALL Belong?

We have a long way to go as an organization. A culture shift has to happen for the environment to be conducive to belonging. We need to recognize that anti-Black racism is deeply embedded in our society and workplaces. We deserve to hear from our allies all year, not just one month out of the year.
